  • Interview and Scrutiny – Once the application is sent, the DSIR will call the applicant and also scrutinize their application. This may be followed by a video presentation of the proposed R & D centre.
  • Acceptance / Rejection –  If you are found to satisfy the proposed eligibility criteria, you can proceed to the DSIR approval process.
  • Approval Application – The process includes the preparation of Form 3CK for approval. Once done, this must be sent to the DSIR. If the DSIR approves, they will provide Form 3CM. This makes you eligible to claim a 150% tax reduction under section 35 (2AB) on the expenses made on R&D.
  • Filing Form 3CL – Post filing income tax returns, you will have to prepare form 3CL and send it to DSIR annually. This indicates the expenditures made on R&D.
